The following Hospital's grooming standards apply to all volunteers.
HAIR
All hair styles should be clean, neat, conservatively styled and in
good taste. The length and/or bulk of the hair will not be excessive or
present a ragged, unkept or extreme appearance. It should be neatly
cut. No rattails or spike hairdos are permitted.
Men's hair styles should be conservative and businesslike and not excessively
long. Sideburns should not extend downward beyond the
upper part of the exterior ear opening. Sideburns should also be straight
and not flared.
In clinical areas, women's hair falling below the shoulder should be
contained and back.
In non-clinical areas, women's hair should also be conservatively styled
and businesslike.
Hairpieces can be worn if they too are conservative and in good taste.
No hair glitter or
sparkling jewelry is to be worn either in the hair or on a hairpiece.
Beards and mustaches are permitted if they are short and neatly trimmed.
HANDS & NAILS
Clean and neatly manicured. Nail polish should be in keeping with the Hospital's conservative image.
JEWELRY
Should be in good taste, not lavish or overly ornate. Only moderate
amounts should be worn. No multicolored garish beads or heavy
chunky style beads. Single strands of one color are allowed. No dangling
earrings beyond one inch; one earring in each ear. Males are not
allbwed to wear earrings.
Pins - limited to wear on scarfs, collars or lapels.
Rings - (1) limited to the third and fourth fingers of each hand; (2)
no more than one ring per finger (wedding rings and engagement rings
count as one); (3) no more than three total rings
Neck chains and necklaces should be tasteful and not too thick.
COSMETICS
Makeup should be subdued; no heavy or dramatic effects.
Perfumes/Colognes/Scents - minimal; should not be a heavy fragrance
that dominates a room.
Hats/Caps/Visors/Scarfs - No employee may wear a hat or headband unless
approved as part of the uniform. Bear in mind that it is all right
to wear a hat or scarf to and from work.
